I have been a humanist for most of my life, and a member of the Cape Fear Chapter of the American Humanist Association for more than a decade. I believe that we have this one life to live, and that it is important that we make it the best that we can. I adhere to the life stance that we have the ability and responsibility to lead an ethical life without promise of a reward, and without participating in theism or supernatural beliefs.
I believe that humans can and should be “good without a god.”
I have the deepest appreciation for Michael Werner, a distinguished individual, member of the Humanists and Freethinkers of Cape Fear, and former AHA board member, for his invaluable guidance and mentorship as I pursued my endorsement as a humanist celebrant. Michael’s wealth of experience and unwavering commitment to humanist values have been instrumental in shaping my understanding of the principles we hold dear. His wisdom, compassion, and dedication to fostering a meaningful humanist community have left an indelible mark on my journey as a celebrant. Professional Credentials
My entire career has been people-centered, and I am a natural communicator. With a degree in English Editorial from Northwestern University, writing is without a doubt one of my strengths.
I have worked in advertising, marketing, social media management, and nonprofit development. For years I co-owned a special event firm, Paint Me a Party, in Chicago, and planned both corporate events and weddings. When I was in nonprofit development, I coordinated a huge number of events, from huge fundraising galas to board retreats. I have also presented to audiences of more than 300 people at annual conferences and have facilitated workshops, small events, and a multitude of celebrations.
