First Meeting
Whether our first meeting is by phone, Zoom, or in person, this is the time when I will ask lots of questions, and you can ask lots of them too. We will talk about your plans and dreams, and dig into what you have in mind for your event. This first meeting is free of obligation, and is your opportunity to decide if I am a fit for the job of officiating your celebration.

After the First Meeting
Once you have interviewed possible officiants, and you are certain that a humanist celebrant is the best fit for your special event, you will ask me to reserve your date. I will send you a contract and request a $150 deposit. I will also send you an email with some of my thoughts and suggestions, and links to online resources that will help you finalize your vision. I can refer you to some of my favorite vendors for venues, catering, flowers, bartenders, videographer, photographer, and other services or items.
Putting Everything Together
Over the next few months, there will be lots of “homework,” especially for you. I will guide you to write vows or memorials, find readings and quotes, and draft the ceremony or service. If you are working with a wedding planner or other professional, I’m happy to coordinate my part of your celebration with them.

Rehearsal and Event
Rehearsals are the time to make sure everything has been planned, scripts are ready, and everyone is comfortable with how the event will unfold.
On the day of your event, I will arrive an hour before the celebration begins. I will be there to make sure that all the pieces for a successful event are in place. My job is to reassure, guide, and gracefully direct the celebration, serving as a “master of ceremonies” all while maintaining the focus on you.
